About the Club |
| Gippsland Central Branch is based
at Traralgon and has members from as far West as Pakenham and East as far
as Bairnsdale. It is a loosely structured group The members want it this
way to prevent "politics" which seem to dog some more formal groups. Regular occurrences are: Weekly informal gatherings at the Traralgon Railway Station ice Creamery from about 1:00 pm. Plenty of talk, coffee and lies and a fortnightly short ride to some mystery destination. It's often a mystery even to the ride leader. There is generally a "prize" for a lucky rider at the end of the ride. Monthly meeting at the Traralgon Library meeting room, at 2:30 pm to discuss coming events, plans etc. Here is a more formal opportunity for members to have their say as to how the Branch operates. Monthly ride, generally on the fourth Sunday, the exact dates and destinations are listed in the ride calendar. Other irregular rides that seem to be arranged by members on the spur of the moment. We are also active in the support of local charities on occasions, not to the extent that we are a charity organisation. We are a social group supporting older motorcycle riders. As with all Ulysses Branches, once you have joined the National Branch, you are welcome to be a member of the Gippsland Central Branch. We have a monthly newsletter to communicate Branch happenings and for this, a small charge is made. Articles and views are encouraged from members for inclusion into the newsletter and this helps the editor fill the pages. If you want to know more about us, just turn up at the ice creamery and make yourself known, you will be most welcome. |
